With the rapid proliferation of Everything-as-a-Service in the Cloud, gone are the days of IT racking and stacking servers and holding the technology hostage. Successful CIOs will take the lead in leveraging new IT models, along with their combined technology and business expertise, to deploy the next-generation enterprise services outside the walls of IT.
In this session, Link Alander, CIO at Lone Star College, one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation, will dive into the imperatives at the heart of his mission: delivering exemplary services to the more than 100,000 students, instructors and employees.
He will be joined by Ron Markham, former CIO and currently a strategist for the Office of the CSO at ServiceNow, to discuss the CIO skillset required to enable a services-centric transformation, how cloud and service management are accelerating this shift and approaches to overcome barriers and risks. In this session we will provide insight into the role of "Enterprise Service Architect", a new breed of IT professional focused on the design, deployment, and management of new intra- and inter-functional business services powered by ServiceNow. The discussion will introduce the concept of Performance-Based Controls, a process design discipline that enables an ESA to deploy automated processes that simultaneously address function-specific and Enterprise service level, risk management, compliance, and cost objectives.
